Medications

For many patients, medication is quite effective in bringing the abnormal heart rhythm under control.

Your physician will explain any medication that is prescribed for you. If medication is recommended as a treatment option, it is very important that you take it on schedule and do not miss any doses.

Also, your doses and medications may need to be altered from time to time. Keep your physician abreast of any chenges in your simptoms so that your drug treatment can be modified accordingly.

Drugs used to control fast heart rhythms include:

  • Anti-arrhythmics
  • Beta Blockers
  • Calcium Channel Blockers

In some cases, arrhythmias do not respond to medication or patients cannot tolerate daily medication.
