Ventricular Arrhythmias
Ventricular Tachycardia (VT)
An abnormally rapid heart rhythm originating in the ventricle (lower chamber). The result is a fast and usually regular heart rate.
Ventricular Fibrillation (VF)
An abnormally rapid heart rhythm that is originated by many different impulses in the ventricles.
The result is a life-threatening, rapid, chaotic fibrillating heart that doesn't beat or contract.
Loss of consciousness and death occur within minutes unless CPR and emergency treatment are given.
Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD)
Cardiac arrest may be caused by almost all known heart diseases. Most cardiac arrests occur when the diseased heart begins to exhibit rapid and/or chaotic activity - ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation.
Sudden Cardiac Death Awareness Program
We are committed to working in our communities to increase the awareness of sudden cardiac death in the United States of America, with over 400,000 people dying a year. We are involved in creating community awareness programs, medical grand rounds, and automatic external defibrillator implementation programs.
