Symptoms

Women can have different symptoms than men that may indicate a cardiac problem.

While women will often have the traditional symptom of chest pain, this "pain" may actually be a pressure, tightness, squeezing, burning, or something that isn’t actually pain. In addition, women are more likely than men to report multiple other symptoms including:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Arm/shoulder pain, usually left-sided, but may be right-sided
  • Abdominal pain
  • Back pain or pain radiating to the back
  • Neck pain
  • Jaw pain
  • Fatigue
