Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery

Led by one of the country’s most prominent practitioners and researchers in minimal access (laparoscopic) surgery, Myriam Curet, we offer both traditional and laparoscopic approaches to adult patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal problems.

We are one of the few centers in the country to do laparoscopic and robotic bariatric surgery for patients who are morbidly obese.

John Morton, one of our newest faculty members, heads the bariatric program and has begun the use of the “lap band” procedure. He is one of the few surgeons in the country who was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar with special expertise in evaluating the outcomes associated with this emerging discipline.

In addition, we use minimally invasive techniques for diagnosis, to place feeding tubes, and to treat hernias and sphincter problems.
