Holly Gautier, RN, BSN
Director/Nurse Coordinator
Holly Gautier joined the CSCP in 2000. Previously, she was a pediatric nurse at Denver General Hospital and manager of Health and Wellness Services and the Health Library of Avenidas, an affiliated branch of the Health Library at Stanford. Her nursing practice has focused on providing community health prevention and promotion to the 50+ adult population, pediatrics, and rurual hospice care. Before she became a RN, she owned and managed an accounting business focusing on design and growth of women-owned businesses.
Pat Fobair, LCSW, MPH
Psychosocial Support
Pat Fobair has been leading support groups since 1970. She developed and currently leads several support groups for Hodgkin's disease and breast cancer patients at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. In 1990, she began co-leading groups for breast cancer patients with Dr. David Spiegel. She has written several papers emphasizing the benefits of group therapy.
Margaret Hawn, RN, BS
Oncology Patient Education
Margaret Hawn has been an Onology nurse at Stanford for 13 years. She has worked extensively with acute care in-patients as well as in the oupatient setting. She is an expert in IV therapies, chemotherapy administration and side-effect management. She enjoys teaching and relaying information to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. She has developed the workshop Chemotherapy: Enhancing Your Experience and has co-authored a chemotherapy related chapter in Supportive Cancer Care.
Pat Kramer RN, MSN, AOCN
Fatigue Management Program
Pat Kramer is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN). She currently works as an Oncology Nurse Educator and Consultant through Oncology Education Services, the educational arm of the Oncology Nursing Society. Pat frequently speaks at national and international conferences on topics related to cacner care and symptom management. In recent years her focus has been Cancer Related Anemia and Fatigue. She has spoken and published extensively on this topic. Pat is an active member of the Bay Area Oncology Nursing Society and has served on the board in several capacities, including President for the year 2000.
Erika Peter, RD
Nutrition Program
Erika Peter joined the Stanford Nutrition department in 2003. Previously she worked at St. Francis Medical Center in Santa Barbara focusing on cancer patients, the diabetic population, and wellness. She believes nutrition is an important part of cancer treatment and prevention.
Ernest H. Rosenbaum, MD
Founder/Advisor
Ernest Rosenbaum is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, and practices at USCF Mt. Zion Cancer Center, specializing in treating people with cancer. Dr. Rosenbaum founded the CSCP and currently serves as an advisor to the program. He authored (along with Isadora R. Rosenbaum, MA) the book Supportive Cancer Care, Sourcebooks, Inc., Naperville, IL, 2001 and Everyone Guide to Cancer Therapy.
David Spiegel, MD
Medical Director
David Spiegel is Professor and Associate Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Director of the research focused Center on Stress and Health at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has authored more than 300 scientific research papers, 100 textbook chapters, and six books on hypnosis, responses to traumatic stress, and supportive care for cancer patients. He is a Fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Society for Behavioral Medicine; he is Past President of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Dr. Spiegel's work was featured on Bill Moyer's Emmy-award winning PBS series Healing the Mind.
