The Medical Transport Program (MTP) at Stanford is a partner to the Life Flight helicopter program. This team of two RNs are educated and trained to transport critically ill or injured patients by ground ambulance. The MTP nurses follow the same protocols and utilize the same skills as the flight team.

Patients transported are primarily acutely ill adults who need specialty services provided by Stanford Medical Center. Some of these patients need the support of ventilators, medicines and infusions, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and other high-tech devices to ensure that they are transported safely.
