Fly-Along Program (FLAP)

Stanford Life Flight has developed this program to provide allied health professionals and public service agencies the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the services we provide.

The program is open to EMT-P's, Dispatchers, RN's, MD's, firefighters, law enforcement officers and other EMS-related personnel. Participants will accompany the crew on interfacility and scene flights as conditions permit.

Fly Along Program Guidelines

Participants:
  • Are considered observers only
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be in good health
  • Will be under the direct supervision of a flight nurse
  • Must adhere to dress requirements; helmets and flight suits provided
  • Are required to keep all patient information confidential

The Life Flight Crew is looking forward to having you participate in our Fly Along Program. We hope your experience will be both educational and enjoyable.

What to bring with you on your fly-along

  • Personal Identification (drivers license, SHC/LPCH ID badge)
  • The keys to your car (we'll explain when you get here)
  • Cloths to wear under flight suite (all cotton preferable)
  • Must wear sneakers or boots (absolutely NO clogs, sandals, dress shoes, or  Z coils)
  • Cell phone
  • Money for lunch or snacks
  • Highly portable snack enclosed in wrapper (ie: Power Bar) because there's no guarantee we'll stop long enough for lunch.
  • A book or personal project to work on (or we probably won't fly at all and you'll get bored)
