Goal

To gain an understanding of common psychiatric illnesses and their treatments

Objectives

• Gain a working knowledge of psychotropic medications in the clinical setting
• Communicate drug information to healthcare providers in an accurate and concise manner
• Provide patient education and discharge counseling on medications

Activities

• Meet with preceptors on a regular basis to discuss patients
• Participate in G2 and H2 rounds
• Daily patient monitoring to ensure efficacy and safety of drug therapy
• Participate in weekly patient Medication Education group
• Research and respond to drug information questions from patients and healthcare providers
• Perform medication use reviews for high risk patients
