Q: What should a Referring Physician do if they are unable to find their patient on the Portal?
A: Stanford makes every effort, including follow-up calls, to capture referring physician and PCP information during inpatient registration and appointment scheduling. If you cannot find your patient on the Portal, please contact the IT Service Desk at (650) 723-3333 and let them know that your patient is not appearing in your Census on the Portal. The Service Desk will collect the information necessary to identify you and your patient and then contact Physician Referral Services (PRS). While this appears to be an extra step, the Service Desk is available 7x24, while the PRS department operates 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.The Service Desk will also check to make sure that the absence of a physician-patient link was not a software problem. PRS will verify that you have a relationship to the patient and then establish the link in the Portal. PRS will follow-up to let you know that the patient is now in your Census or the reason why the link could not be established.
