Increasingly, healthcare organizations are faced with the challenge of attracting candidates into management and administrative roles to provide leadership within complex organizations.
Additionally, scarcity of nursing faculty at academic institutions is a major barrier to solving the nursing shortage as each year thousands of qualified would-be-nurses are left on waiting lists or shut out from fulfilling their dream of becoming a nurse.
Join us for dinner and dialogue as we explore the future of nursing leadership roles in the academic and clinical settings across the Bay Area.
This evening event is designed in dialogue format to bring together managers, faculty, staff nurses, and students to consider the following:
Career Paths
Work Environment
Leadership
Management
-
What is the manager’s role in succession planning?
-
How do we attract younger generations: quality of life, pay differentials, continued contact with clinical care…can the manager’s role be changed for the better?
Dialogue Leaders:
Dorrie Fontaine, RN, DNSc, FAAN, Associate Dean for Academic Programs
UCSF School of Nursing, Immediate Past-President, American Association of Critical Care Nurses
Joan Caldwell, RN, MSN, Project Manager Magnet Recognition Program, Stanford Hospital and Clinics
Moderators:
Debra Gerardi, RN, MPH, JD and Virginia Morrison, JD, Health Care Mediations, Inc.
*A gift for each manager bringing an aspiring manager and for each faculty member bringing an aspiring teacher! Space will be limited for this event so register early!
