The Adult Critical Care series presented by renowned physicians and nurses from Stanford University Medical Center provides a unique opportunity for nurses to receive a broad range of advanced critical care theory and the most up-to-date patient care practices.
Cardiothoracic Surgical Interventions is the 1st course in this 6 course series.
Topics to be covered include:

Surgical interventions used in the treatment of cardiothoracic disease

New procedures that are found in the larger medical centers such as:

the maze procedure for atrial fibrillation,

valvular reconstruction and

emergency treatment of aortic dissection as well as an overview of the basics

Physiological effects of cardiopulmonary bypass and the risks and complications of some of the common surgical interventions
