Prevention and management of acute stroke has evolved dramatically in recent years with improved imaging techniques, fibrinolytic agents and endovascular techniques aimed at diagnosing, preventing and treating stroke in the earliest stages. JCAHO recognizes that standardized stroke care is necessary and has instituted a voluntary process to certify hospitals that meet these higher standards for treating this patient population.
This 8 hour course will cover many different aspects of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, from tPA administration to rehabilitation. The course will meet the necessary JCAHO requirements for maintenance of certification for staff.
Program Highlights:
• Acute ischemic stroke diagnosis and treatment
• Human response to neurologic dysfunction
• Neuro critical care topics including TCD monitoring and hypothermia
• Moya Moya disease
• Diagnostic imaging of stroke
• Current and future research including neuronal transplantation
• Rehabilitation for acute stroke patients
