Have you been chosen to be a preceptor? Congratulations!! You have probably been recognized for your clinical knowledge and skill, as well as your ability to establish good interpersonal relationships. Now you are being asked to share this expertise with a colleague who is new to your work area.
This program will help you learn the role of the preceptor. We will identify characteristics of professionals who are at varying stages of their professional development. Whether you are working with students, new graduates, or experienced new hires, you will learn how best to work with that person. We will discuss learning styles, strategies for bedside teaching and developing critical thinking skills, and (the most challenging part) giving feedback.
