ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course (2 Days)

Prerequisite: Six months of oncology nursing experience

The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS ) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course has been updated to include biotherapy and pediatrics.  Participants must be licensed RNs with six months of experience. 

All content will be based on the new ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Guidelines providing a comprehensive overview for nurses new to chemotherapy, and a review for experienced oncology nurses to ensure consistency in practice.  Case studies will be presented.  

Upon completion of the course and post-test , participants will receive a laminated ONS Cancer Chemotherapy Card.  This card validates successful completion of the ONS chemotherapy course and theoretical foundation needed to administer chemotherapy. 

This is not a certification course, individual institutions are responsible for determining their own requirements based on internal policies for assessing clinical com­petency in chemotherapy administration.

  • safe handling and safe administration

  • side effect management and

  • patient teaching
