Advanced PICC Insertion Using Ultrasound

This one-day course is designed to meet the advanced learning needs of nurses who insert PICC catheters and midlines. 

Attendees must be experi­enced in inserting PICCs or intending to insert PICCs using ultrasound.

Em­phasis will be on current guidelines and new adjunctive technology to assist the nurse in successful placement of PICCs.

Program Highlights:

  • Cost justification for using ultrasound and MST for PICC insertions
  • Microintroducer technique
  • Catheter exchange technique
  • PIC Catheter suturing, Statlock,  and use of local anesthetics
  • Power–injectable PICCs
  • Principles of ultrasound
  • Use of ultrasound to access deep veins
  • Use of Navigator™ to determine tip placement
