Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, demonstrate familial transmission that appears due to both environmental and genetic risk factors. Mood disorders are more common in women, yet the role of gender in the familial transmission of mood disorders is unclear. This talk will focus on the current understanding of familial mood disorders and intervention strategies, as well as the relationship between familial mood disorders and reproductive dysfunction.

Speaker: Natalie L. Rasgon, MD, PhD, Professor and Director of the Stanford Center for Neuroscience in Women's Health, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University
